University of Delaware Football Game - (LH) (2019)

Notes: We have been requested to attend the University of Delaware football game this Thursday evening on the sidelines like last year and provide a volley of fire each time the Blue Hens score for the first half of the game. Therefore, we need soldiers to provide this at the game. Soldiers would need to arrive by 6pm – kickoff is at 7pm. Traffic will be heavy if you arrive closer to kickoff. Again – we will only do the first half. Due to the heat and humidity, regimental coats or hunting frocks may be taken off at any time. Any uniform will do – early to late war is aok. Full canteens of water too.

We can meet at 5:30pm at my location – 45 Red Mill Road, Newark, DE 19711 – to carpool if you would like to do so. They are giving us 2 vehicle passes and request us carpool if at all possible. If not please park and then meet us at the south end zone UD side gate (where the large bell is located).

Ideally we would like to have at least 7 muskets for this event. 7 to fire for a touchdown and 3 for a field goal. If we have more soldiers we will rotate and utilize additional members as safety persons to make sure we have a clear area each time. At the half we will then get food and beverages at a vendor at the stadium courtesy of the Regiment or UD. Then we will be done. This is a paid event for the Regiment.

While on the sideline you may be asked for photo ops with cheerleaders, dance team, fans, etc. We may even get photos with the UD President and other dignitaries too. We are to stay in that area near the goal line and be prepared for any UD scores. Basically we are mimicking what the New England Patriots do at their home games. Pretty cool!
